Soft rot begins as small watersoaked lesions and rapidly causes a soft, mushy decay of the entire fruit.

Avoid wounding of fruit during harvest and subsequent handling. Chlorinated dips in packing sheds are beneficial. Cool fruit as soon as possible after harvest.
