Symptoms:
Darkened spots may occur on smooth-fleshed melons where excess salts accumulate as a result of moisture excretion from the fruit epidermis. Excess soil moisture favors excretion.

Control:
Careful attention to irrigation frequency and duration during the later stages of fruit development is important.
