Scientific name: Monstera deliciosa
Description: Large vining plant with leathery, dark green leaves, deeply cut and perforated with holes. The basically heart-shaped leaves can grow up to 18 inches across on 12-inche stalks. The white spathe is rarely produced indoors.
Light: Bright, filtered light during active growing period; direct sunlight in winter
Temperature: Normal room temperature
Methods of propagation: Tip cuttings that include at least two leaves will root in spring, but do best in a 4-inch pot containing equal parts of peat moss and sand. Air layering and seeds can also be used.
Comment: Excellent selection for patios and decks, can be over-wintered with some protection.
