Dwarf Date Palm


Scientific name: Phoenix roebelenii

Description: The narrow, arching, dark green fronds are much finer than the fronds of other date palms and have a thin layer of white scales. They grow as long as 3 feet in a thick crown on a slender stem that reach 4 feet in height.

Light: Filtered light is best, but will thrive in full sunlight

Temperature: Normally warm room temperature; do best if encouraged to have a winter rest period at about 50-55 degrees F

Methods of propagation: Commercially grown from seeds, but this is a slow process. Sucker shoots with already formed roots and date stones can also be used.

Comment: A handsome palm for interior living areas.
