Corn Plant


Scientific name: Dracaena fragrans massangeana

Description: Palm-like plants that grow 4-5 feet tall with a 2-foot spread. The glossy green, loosely arching leaves are 1 1/2-3 feet long and 4 inches wide with a wide central stripe of yellow, sometimes bordered by one or two narrower yellow lines.

Light: Bright light, but not direct sunlight

Temperature: Warm room temperatures

Methods of propagation: Tip or stem cuttings or basal shoots in spring or late summer

Comment: Can be sensitive to salty water. Leaf tips and margins can burn or become yellow if excessive levels of salts are present.
