Hyacinth


Scientific name: Hyacinthus species

Description: A heavily scented, spring flowering bulbous plant. The Dutch hyacinth produces a single flower spike 4-6 inches long on a stalk 2-3 inches long. The spike is crowded with bell-shaped flowers 1-2 inches long which may be white, red, pink, yellow or blue. The basal leaves of all three types are variable in length and width and surround the central flower spike or spikes.

Comment: A very fragrant, spring flowering plant.
