Scientific name: Sinningia speciosa

Description: This plant has hairy, purplish stems up to 12 inches tall. The oval, velvety leaves grow 8 inches long and 6 inches wide on 1 1/2-inch stalks. Leaf color is medium green with pale green veins on the upper surface, and pale green flushed with red on the underside. Trumpet-shaped blooms can be white, red, or violet, sometimes banded with yellow or white.

Light: Bright, filtered light

Temperature: Between 65 and 75 degrees F

Methods of propagation: Use 1- to 4-inch long cuttings of young stems, seeds or leaf cuttings.

Comment: Require fairly high humidity.
