Scientific name: Exacum affine

Description: A profusely flowering plant with 1 inch long, oval, shiny green leaves. The leaves grow on 1/2 inch-long leafstalks clustered thickly on the stems. The pale lavender blue flowers have prominent golden yellow stamens. These 1/2-inch saucer-shaped flowers are fragrant.

Light: Medium to bright; avoid strong direct sunlight.

Temperature: Normal to warm room temperatures

Methods of propagation: Seeds

Comment: Requires high humidity. Keep pots on trays of moist pebbles and spray plants regularly. Pick off spent flowers to prolong flowering period.
