African Violets


Scientific name: Saintpaulia species

Description: Small plants with velvety leaves in spreading rosettes often with red undersides or stems. Single or double blossoms occur in many hues of blue, pink, and white.

Light: Indirect sunlight or partial shade

Temperature: Average to warm, minimum night temperature of 65-75 F

Methods of propagation: Leaf cuttings

Comment: African violets do very well under fluorescent lights.
