Are You Ready to Teach High School Floral Design?

July 15 – 19, 2024 (On-campus Instruction)

(9:00 am – 5:00 pm)


This one-week class is designed specifically for high school floral design instructors.  Topics that will be covered in this class include:

  • Basics of floral design – coolers/refrigerators, floral identification, care and handling, etc.
  • Elements and principles of design
  • How to create floral designs on a limited budget
  • Buying and procuring floral materials in the digital age
  • Certification opportunities for teachers and students
  • How to quickly create online content
  • Properly maintaining a small greenhouse for interior plants and cut foliage
  • Assessment/evaluation of floral designs
  • Job opportunities in floral design

Participants will be encouraged to ask questions about other topics that pertain to teaching high school floral design.

Upon completion of this 40 hour class, students receive a Certificate of Completion bearing the names of the Benz School and Texas A&M University.

LOCATION and FEES
Classes are held in the floral design studio at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX (Horticulture/Forest Science Building, Room 108).   The tuition is $850.00 which includes all class materials (shipping), supplies, and printed hand-out materials.   Full  payment is required at the time of your registration.

Requested refund two weeks prior to scheduled class = full refund less $50.00 admin fee
Requested refund one week prior to scheduled class = 50% refund
Requested refund less than one week prior to scheduled class = no refund

PARKING
Parking is available in TAMU Lot 74.  Parking permits may be purchased for $25.00 from the TAMU Transportation Department at the following link:

Do not park in a “pay-for-use” or “24 hour reserved” spot.

Students must provide their own set of basic tools that would include a floral knife, stem cutters/snips, wire cutters and ribbon scissors.
