MG meeting

Welcome to the website of the Rusk County, Texas Master Gardeners. We are located in the piney woods of East Texas, among some of the best soil around. People here are able to grow a diversity of shrubs, flowers, trees, fruits and other types of vegetation.

MISSION: The Rusk County Master Gardener Program is a volunteer development program offered by the Texas Cooperative Extension office. It is designed to increase the availability of horticultural information to the community and improve the quality of life through horticultural projects.

Program objectives are implemented through the training of local volunteers. Master Gardeners collaborate with the Rusk County Extension office to conduct community education; establish and maintain demonstration gardens; and provide a speakers bureau. The volunteers work with special audiences in the community for the outreach of a horticultural nature and recruit and educate new Master Gardener candidates for effective volunteering.

The Rusk County Master Gardener Association is a respected leading source for horticultural education and horticultural information for the county and for the immediate surrounding areas that request information.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the County Extension office located at 113 East Fordall Street in Henderson, Texas.
