The Southern Region American Society for Horticultural Science met February 13 - 16th in Tulsa, OK in conjunction with the meetings of the Southern Association of Agricultural Scientists. Several members of the Department of Horticultural Sciences were recognized or received awards.
Dr. Tim Davis received the award for excellence in administration.
Dr. David Reed was recognized as President-elect for Southern Region, ASHS.
Ndambe Nzaramba placed 3rd in the Childers Graduate Research Competition.

The team placed 2nd overall, and as follows in the respective commodity divisions: Woody Ornamentals, 2; Greenhouse Floral and Foliage, 2; Vegetables, 3; Fruit and Nuts, 1. Byron Whisnant was third place individual overall, and 3rd place individual in Woodies, Greenhouse, and Fruit and Nut divisions.
Jennifer Burns was elected SR-ACB secretary. FHS was named second place in the Outstanding Club Competition.
