MATHEMATICAL/LOGICAL REASONING
This section of the degree plan must be in accordance with the courses required by the University Core Curriculum. This section requires two courses of calculus or higher math or one course in calculus and one course in logic. The math courses used to meet this requirement include MATH 166, Topics in Contemporary Mathematics, MATH 131, Mathematical Concepts-Calculus (for science students), MATH 141, Business Mathematics I, MATH 142, Business Mathematics II, MATH 151, Engineering Mathematics I, and/or courses that require these as prerequisites. MATH 171 would also be acceptable, but it is a calculus course for math majors. MATH 102, 103, 104, 130 and 150 cannot be used to meet the math requirement, but may be necessary for students to prepare for the courses that do meet the math requirement. Credit can not be earned in both MATH 166 and 141 and it can not be given for more than one of MATH 131, 142, 151 and 171. PHIL 240, 341, or 342 may be substituted for one of the MATH courses required. Students transferring in any of this coursework by title must see the undergraduate coordinator to have it submitted for approval by the Dean of the COALS.
