750 members of the Plant Tissue Culture LISTSERV (PLANT-TC@tc.umn.edu) were surveyed to determine their readiness/willingness to use the World Wide Web as a tool for scientific information exchange. 106 responses were received.

The survey consisted of the following 7 questions:

Have you ever used the World Wide Web?

Do you connect to the Internet through a modem?

Have you used a Web site to obtain a copy of a research paper?

Should papers on the Web be peer reviewed?

Are you recognized and rewarded for publishing on the Web?

Are you a member of the Society for In Vitro Biology?

Would the availability of a journal site on the Web influence your decision to join a professional society?
