Mediterranean Fruit Fly

[Ceratitis capitata, (Wiedermann), family Tephritidae] found throughout subtropical regions of the world on a wide variety of decidious and tropical fruits including peaches, avocados, all citrus fruits except lemon and sour lime. Smaller than a housefly its wings are held in a drooping position.  Black spots on the thorax, two white bands on a yellow abdomen and characteristic black and yellow marking on the wings identify this fly species.
