RE: General Announcements

Howdy!

You will need to purchase:

H.T. Hartmann, D.E. Kester, F.T. Davies, Jr., and R.L. Geneve. 2002. Hartmann and Kester's Plant Propagation: Principles and Practices - 7th ed. Prentice-Hall, Inc. Upper Saddle River, NJ.

The supplementary lecture and laboratory manuals should be purchased at the TX Engineering Exp Station Copy Center at 221 Wisenbaker Bld (221 WERC) on Bizzell Street (845-3120). You should always bring the supplementary lecture manual to class.

• F.T. Davies, Jr. and S.A. Duray. 2006. Laboratory Exercises in Plant Propagation - 13th ed. Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.

• F.T. Davies, Jr. 2002. Supplementary Lecture Handouts for Plant Propagation – 3rd ed. Texas A&M University, College Station, TX.

• You are also encouraged to buy a budding-grafting knife from the TAMU bookstore--$22.95.

• You are encouraged to outline basic points made in assigned sections of your text and handouts in addition to lecture and laboratory notes.

• Use the key word study aids, starting with Chapter 1 on page 159 in the Supplementary Lecture Handouts for Plant Propagation – 3rd ed. If you know these terms you will have a good comprehension of what is important in the book. It's OK if you want to get together in groups to share CORRECT definitions among each other; your fellow students email addresses should be available on the Hort 326 Webpage under "Students".

• There is a lot of good links and information on the Hort 326 Homepage: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/syllabi/326/hort326.htm

• Also, the two CDs on Plant Propagation edited by Dr. Sandy Wilson, has a lot of good references and visuals to supplement the lecture materials. For those of you who go onto teach at the grammar school, high school or university level, there is a lot of good visual information.

• Be sure to send me an email so I can bookmark your email address.

• You should check the "News" section of the Hort 326 Webpage on a weekly basis.

• My office hours are from 10:30-noon Tuesday and Thursday (immediately after class). If that does not fit your schedule, than email or phone me to setup another time to meet.

• I have placed two copies of the Hartmann and Kester text on reserve (up to a 4-hr check out) at the Medical Sciences Library on West Campus.
