Emerging Pests....

The white tailed deer conjures up visions of Bambi and the serenity of nature! However, deer now overpopulate many rural and suburban areas, causing severe feeding damage to the landscape. Fruit trees, herbaceous perennials, bulbs, and even blooming annuals are consumed by the ton!

One approach to managing deer problems in the landscape is to plant ornamentals they won't eat. Dr. Jerry Parsons highlights one such plant, Malvaviscus arboreus drummondii, the Turk's cap.
