The ornamental landscape can be as carefree or demanding as the gardener chooses.  Good choice of ornamentals and proper installation should enable this part of  the landscape to be low maintenance and organic gardening principles are all that is needed.  If the gardener chooses to grow high maintenance plants, this part of the landscape could be very demanding, so much so that the gardener has little time left to enjoy the garden.

The objectives of this exercise are to learn proper methods of planting and maintaining woody ornamentals.

• Develop a planting plan for the ornamental areas in the Holistic Garden.
• Plant a woody ornamental in  the landscape of the Holistic Garden.
