INTRODUCTION:

A good soil test requires a good, representative soil sample.  Analysis of the soil sample can be done in commercial or State soil test labs.  Soil test kits also make it possible for the gardener to conduct some of their own analyses and interpret their results.

OBJECTIVES:

The objective of this exercise is to take a soil sample and analyze the sample.

ACTIVITY:
  • Take a soil sample (5 subsamples) from one of areas in the holistic garden.
  • Collect a sample of soil for a soil test from one of the garden areas.
  • Analyze the soil sample with the soil test instruments in the lab room and compare this analysis with a sample that was sent to the TAMU Soil Test Lab.
