| INTRODUCTION:Knowledge of produce quality can be useful in several situations:
knowing when to harvest produce from the garden; selecting produce at the
market for use in meal preparation; grading produce that is to be sent to market;
preparing produce for contests and exhibits; and judging produce exhibited by others in a
contest. |
 |
| OBJECTIVES:The goal of this activity is to introduce the produce, to study
variations in exterior and interior quality of produce and to sample some raw and cooked
fruits and vegetables. |
ACTIVITY:
Evaluate the produce samples in lab ranking
each item. Determine which of the four samples is best, second best, third best, and
poorest samples.
- Participate in the discussion of quality for each item.
