Texstar
Released by Texas A&M University in 1984.
Texstar was developed to be resistant to crop loss due to
spring freezes by incorporating an extended bloom period, and
ability to set a heavy crop load. Thinning can be very labor
intensive and must be done well in order to get good sizing. The
fruit is medium-sized with good firmness and few
splits. Fruit becomes tippy after a mild winter.
Chill Req.: 450 C.U. Ripe:
-53 D.B.E. ( about 5/23 in Central Texas). Zones: 4-6.
