Goldprince

Released by the USDA breeding program in Byron, GA.  Goldprince is gaining popularity as a variety to proceed (and possibly replace) Junegold in the southeastern U.S.  Fruit holds well on the tree, and splits are usually not a problem.  Goldprince has excellent firmness, color, and flavor for an early peach. Size can be good if thinned well but small fruit has been reported in low-chill years when bloom is delayed by insufficient chilling.  Cropping is dependable and fruit tends to be elongated rather than round. Fruit below were grown in Zone 4.

   Chill Req.:  650 C.U.,  Ripe: -57 D.B.E. ( about 5/19 in Central Texas).  Zones 3-5.
