Announcement of Landscape Design Course I
This year a very interesting Special Topic lecture will be presented by Distinguished Lecturer Mr. Jim Johnson of the Benz School of Floral Design. He will speak on ‘From the Garden to the Vase’. This is an excellent opportunity to see and hear a nationally recognized floral arranger at work.
Master Gardeners who complete a course may apply 12 hours of credit to their requirements for continuing education.
Texas Garden Club members who successfully pass the examinations for all four courses are eligible to become nationally accredited Landscape Design Consultants.
Texas Certified Nursery Professionals who pass the course may apply this to their requirement for recertification with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA).
The cost of the course is $85 - make check payable to LANDSCAPE DESIGN. The text Stewards of the Land (National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc.), will be available to purchase for $40 with chapters which cover thoroughly the materials to be presented in all four of the courses of the series. The text is required for garden club members, but optional to other students.
Those students wishing to purchase the book may add an additional amount of $40 to the registration fee amount. The book will be reserved for them to pick up the first morning of the course. The text replaces in large part the syllabus which accompanied the course in previous years.
Registration forms may be requested from Lenora Sebesta (Department of Extension Horticulture, 2134 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843-2134) by telephone (979) 845-7342 or by e-mail at lasebesta@ag.tamu.edu.
ACCOMMODATIONS: Overnight accommodations have been reserved for course participants at Quality Suites, 1010 University Drive, College Station, TX 77840 (979) 695-9500 ($76.00 until 9-5-05) and Manor House Inn, 2504 Texas Avenue South, College Station, Tx 77840, (979)764-9540 ($59.00 until 9-5-05).
