Landscape Design Study Course IV, Series XX
February 19-20, 2007
Christ United Methodist Church, 4201 State Hwy 6, College Station, TX
Presented by Texas Garden Clubs, Inc. and Texas Cooperative Extension
NOTE: As you drive down Hwy 6 out of College Station toward Navasota, exit at the sign designated "40". At the next intersection (Wm Fitch), turn left under the freeway and continue back towards College Station on the access road. The church will be on the right.
This is the fourth in the Landscape Design Study Course series which is offered in four separate schools, approximately six months apart, in the Bryan-College Station area. Participants may take the four courses in any sequence. Garden Club members, Master Gardeners, nurserymen and others who are interested in furthering their knowledge of landscape design are welcome to attend.
For Course IV a very interesting Special Topic lecture, 'Water Efficient Plants,' will be presented by Wayne Mackay, Associate Resident Director, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Dallas, TX. This presentation will focus on appropriate plants for Texas landscapes with an eye to water resource conservation.
After the completion of the course a bus trip will tour significant business, residential and park features in the Bryan-College Station area.
Master Gardeners who complete a course may apply 12 hours of credit to their requirements for continuing education. Texas Garden Club members who successfully pass the examination for all four courses are eligible to become nationally accredited Landscape Design Consultants. Texas Certified Nursery Professionals who pass the course may apply this to their requirement for recertification with the Texas Nursery and Landscape Association (TNLA).
Registration materials may also be requested from Tammy Landry, Department of Extension Horticulture, 2134 TAMU, College Station, TX 77843-2134, by telephone (979) 845-7342 or by e-mail at t-landry1@tamu.edu.
You may also download the application form from the internet at http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/southerngarden/index.html.
Registration for the course will be $90 (two lunches and tour included). The text, good for all four courses, is Stewards of the Land. It may be purchased for an additional $40. The book will be reserved for participants to pick up the first morning of the course. This text replaces in large part the syllabus that accompanied the course in previous years.

Dinner reservations following the reception ($15 tax incl.) may be made by telephoning Shirleen McDonald, 936-825-7777 x 100, or by e-mail: shirleen@marthasbloomers.com.
