Symptoms:
Leaves wilt and may be come brown and necrotic (particularly severe on squash and pumpkins). Fairly large (1/2 inch or so) flat-backed brownish, grayish or greenish insects are seen crawling on leaves and stems. Insects have a disagreeable, rancid odor when handled or crushed. Insect feeding in large numbers reduces plant vigor and yield. Clusters of brownish egg masses composed of many very small (< 1/2 mm), dot-like eggs may be found on upper leaf surfaces.
