The most common Carlowrightia found in the Trans-Pecos, Texas carlowrightia grows on rocky slopes and flats, often in disturbed soil. It is also found on the Edwards Plateau, the Rio Grande Plains and into New Mexico and Mexico. It has round or ovate leaves and white flowers that appear from April to November.
