Obovate, sometimes pubescent, basal leaves grow in clumps. Thin, sometimes hairy, stems bear light blue, pink, or lavender flower heads that are about 1.5 inches across.

Additional Comments: Long blooming. 'Butterfly Blue' and 'Pink Mist' are two popular cultivars, however some have found they act more like annuals. In general, flowers are not as interesting as those of S. Caucasica, yet they fill the benches in garden centers while S. Caucasica can be a rare find.
