Internships

Students working on a Master's of Agriculture in horticulture participate in a professional internship and write a paper on their experiences. Two students in this lab are currently working toward this degree. Their projects are presented below.

 

      Los Hermanos--Cheryl Lewis is doing her internship at Los Hermanos Ranch, a residential treatment facility for emotionally disturbed boys. She worked with the residents and staff for three months developing and implementing a garden program. She is now developing a year-around garden program to be used at Los Hermanos for her professional paper.

      Casa Calina--Sara Kaplan completed her internship at Casa Calina, a facility offering therapy for individuals recovering from head injuries. She served as a horticulture therapy intern, teaching the residents various horticultural techniques. Currently she is writing her professional paper based on this internship.
