Wetland Ecosystem

The Wetland in the Holistic Garden is an important part of its ecosystem. The water supports many beneficial organisms, such as the larvae of dragon flies and the tadpoles of toads. It helps recycle excess nutrients that leach out of the compost used to fertilize the garden beds. It also provides habitat and a water source for small animals that live in the garden. Small mosquito fish and the juvenile stages of animals that begin their lives in the water keep the mosquito population down.
