Herb plantings occur throughout the garden. A culinary herb garden occurs adjacent to the cottage in the Warren and Margaret Barham Texas Heritage Garden, various herbs are grown in the Sensory and Enabling Garden beds. Herbs are also used to illustrate several of the exhibits in the Discovery Trail
