Fruit Orchard

A planting of fruits is part of the Warren and Margaret Barham Texas Heritage Garden. The grape, fig, plum, jujube, pomegranate, persimmon, pear and peach are all representatives of plants that were introduced to Texas from various peoples who settled in Texas. The Enabling Garden has espaliered plum, fig and apricot trees

A new fruit planting is being established in the Holistic Garden. It will contain the common small fruits, grapes, muscadines, blackberry, red raspberry, strawberries, pomegranates, figs and persimmons and tree fruits which will include peaches, plums, pears and apples. Some types of citrus are grown in containers in the Enabling Garden and others are to be planted near the garden shed on the end of the Discovery Garden Trail.
