Enabling Garden

The Enabling Garden is a work in progress. It consists of several types of plant beds and seating areas to illustrate the point that anyone who wants to garden can do so, regardless of ability or disability. The beds in this garden include four types of planters that are accessible to wheel chair gardeners, vertical gardens for persons who have had a stroke or are paralyzed from other causes, beds with seating on the edges, special design for persons who have arthritic joints, a garden space for persons who are visually impaired, and a bed designed for person who have balance problems. One large raised bed garden illustrates beds built to five different heights. The central seating area has benches set at four different heights. All of the dimensions in this garden area illustrate the needs for accessibility for persons who use walkers or wheel chairs. The ramps illustrate four different slopes.
