HORT 485: Special
Problems
Botanical Gardens, Arboreta and Professional Grounds
Maintenance
We are now accepting a limited number of students into 1 - 3 hour Special
Problems courses focusing on Botanical Gardens, Arboreta and Professional
Grounds Maintenance . These courses will be offered at the TAMU Horticultural
Gardens and Field Laboratory. This 15 acre facility contains over 300
plant specimens in 27 different beds and planting areas. In addition
to the gardens, the facility offers a 20,000 square foot container nursery,
4,000 square feet of covered overwintering structures and 6,000 square
feet of greenhouse area.
Prerequisite: Instructors Approval.

(8 - 5, M - F, minimum 2 hr. blocks)
The breakdown for credits per hours worked is as follows:
For SS1 or SS2
1 485 credit = 9 hours/week
2 485 credits = 18 hours/week
3 485 credits = 27 hours/week
For the 10 week Summer Session:
1 485 credit = 4.5 hours/week
2 485 credits = 9 hours/week
3 485 credits = 13.5 hours/week

This 3 hour course is designed to provide the basic skills, knowledge
and practical experiences required for career opportunities in botanical
gardens, arboreta and professional grounds maintenance. Study areas
