The Texas A&M University Horticultural Gardens are pleased to announce the schedule for our monthly Garden Lecture Series. These programs will feature well known authorities with specific information for the Brazos Valley. We hope you will take advantage of this educational opportunity.
Tuesday, February 8, 2005 – 7:00 p.m.
Vegetable Gardening in the BV – Dr. Sam Cotner
Texas A&M University College Station, TX
Vegetable gardening in the Brazos Valley can be enjoyable and challenging at the same time. Dr. Sam Cotner, author of the Vegetable Book, will help get your spring garden off to a great start with useful information on: variety selection, planting tips, fertilization and much more.

Roses: Yesterday and Tomorrow – Mr. Mike Shoup
Antique Rose Emporium Independence, TX
Mike is among the foremost authorities on roses and rose culture. He is particularly knowledgeable about “old” roses and their use in the landscape. Mike will share information on new selections, design, culture and maintenance, as well as the latest news from the ARE.

Wildflowers are one of our states most loved and valued natural resources. Stephen's work at the Wildflower Center focuses on educational programs for adults. He will provide an overview of projects and activities underway at the Center as well as details on upcoming programs and events.

Plant Extravaganza – Dr. David Creech
Stephen F. Austin Mast Arboretum Nacogdoches, TX
We are extremely honored to welcome Dr. Creech to our Lecture Series lineup. David is recognized as an authority on plant materials from around the world. He will share information on new and unusual specimens for use in the landscape, as well as the latest developments at SFA.

Linda’s Gingers & Tropicals – Ms. Linda Gay
Mercer Arboretum & Botanic Gardens Houston, TX
Linda has amassed an incredible collection of landscape tropicals and gingers at the Mercer Arboretum. These are some of the hottest plants on the market and many are well adapted to the Brazos Valley. Linda will also provide an update on the Mercer’s summer plant sale.
