Plant strawberries for a tasty winter harvest.  They should be treated as annuals in southern Texas.  Native strawberries serve as an excellent year-round ground cover.

Keep those tree leaves raked if trees had fungal leaf spot problems last year, especially oaks and Arizona ash.

Start planting beets, chard, collards, kohlrabi, English peas, Irish potatoes, parsley, radish and spinach.

Twig girdlers are a problem on trees in the fall.  They lay eggs in fallen branches, so be sure to remove these.  Spray trees with imidacloprid.
