The U.S. Department of Agriculture has teamed up with designated universities around the country to begin gardening programs.  In Texas, the USDA has teamed up with Texas A&M University to create the Texas Master Gardner's Association.  Each state should have a similar program.  Programs like the TMGA are designed to teach gardening techniques, tips, and provide information on which plants are indigenous to the area.  They have a wealth of information.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture has teamed up with designated universities around the country to begin gardening programs.

Many agricultural universities also offer curriculums dealing with the therapeutic aspects of horticulture.
