Master Gardener Anna Wygrys will give a PowerPoint presentation on the various plants from bulbs, corms, rhizomes and tubers, which thrive in the Southern gardens of the upper Gulf Coast of Texas.

Program presented by Jessica Weizer, an Extension Horticulture Agent for Nueces County, Texas and an entomologist. Beneficial insects prey on the pests gardeners detest, keeping insect populations in check. Come learn to recognize these top beneficial insects and what attracts them, as well as what other insects or critters, both friend and foe, might be living alongside your flowers and vegetables.

Master Gardener Luke Stripling will present a workshop on growing cool weather vegetables. Topics will include soil preparation, drainage, raised beds, growing up with fence or other supports, seed planting dates, varieties, planting depth, fertilizer methods, water requirements, and harvesting.
