Plants are searchable by photo, scientific or common name, or through a dynamically searchable database of botanical and horticultural features.  Visitors
from a Land Far, Far Away? The famous West Lake Hills Flamingo Flock has
migrated into the Austin-West Lake Hills area for the past 10 years or so. A
scout bird arrived in West Lake Hills on the morning of February 16th. There
were reports that the entire flock was sighted the same day on the west campus
of Texas A&M University near the Horticulture-Forest Science Building. Sure
enough, we have pictures to confirm their presence on the Texas A&M Univserity
campus.
 How will FQPA affect crop agriculture in
Texas? Crop Briefs are factsheets that detail crop
statistics, major pests, and agrichemical usage on several Texas horticultural
and agronomic commodities. Dr. Dudley Smith examines the likely impact that
FQPA will have on these production systems.
 Poinsettia Celebration 2002 was the
twelfth annual event for Ellison's Greenhouses in Brenham. New varieties, fun,
food, and fellowship! See the event through the lens of Terri Starman.

 Aggie
Horticulture PicturePages are a group of searchable databases containing
information about ornamental plants. PicturePages includes plants for the
interior, landscape trees and shrubs, and Texas native trees.
 The Texas Citrus and
Subtropical Fruits section of Aggie Horticulture contains information for
commercial producers and home growers of citrus, with an emphasis on Texas
citrus; includes information on culture, pest management, and marketing.
 The CEMAP web site
has been revised! The Texas Superstartm program and plants
identified as Texas Superstarstm are presented. Also enables online
ordering of Texas Superstartm stakes and tags.
 The Aggie Horticulture budding Scholars page links to tons of
information about science projects. Online resources, state and international
science fair web sites, suppliers.... and lots of other information for
students and the teachers who advise them.
 Once
again, most of Texas finds itself in the midst of a severe drought!. PLANTanswers Drought Information
Hotline contains suggestions for the homeowner/gardener about the wise
use of water during the drought emergency.
Composting for
KIDS is a scripted slide set about composting produced especially for
kids. The slide set was produced by Skip Richter, county horticulturalist in
Montgomery County. The slide set is suitable for projection from the Web or
for viewing on WebTV.
Poisonous
Plants Information links to an informational leaflet and to web sites
that contain information about plants that are toxic to people and their
pets.
 New recipes
for 1015 Onions and Texas pecans have been added to the PLANTanswers recipe index.
 Texas Cooperative Extension has organized a Sustainable
Cropping Systems Team. A web site
describing their activities, a growing list of sustainable agriculture
information sources, and links to other sites is under construction.
 PLANTanswers for the Southern US is a new
resource in Aggie Horticulture. PLANTanswers is a forum moderated by Dr.
Jerry Parsons containing the answers to the most frequently asked questions
about gardening, landscape plants, and general horticulture. If you can't find
the answer to your question, you can email Dr. Parsons directly from
PLANTanswers for his response!
 Wildflowers in bloom...A place to go when the
weather's been too bad for the native wildflowers....or when your favorite
wildflower is out of season! This pictorial resource has information about
planting, care and distribution of the major wildflowers of the United States.
A cooperative project between the Texas Agricultural Extension Service and
WILDSEED FARMS.
 PLANTanswers Turfgrass
Information is a major addition to the PLANTanswers for the Southern US
site. Authored by Dr. Dick Duble, this site contains information on turfgrass
selections. turf establishment, maintenance, weed control, and disease and
insect problems. A must see!
