Virus Disease caused by at least two different viruses. One disease is called corn stunt and the other maize dwarf mosaic (MDM). Corn stunt usually begins as faint, yellow stripping of new leaves and suppression of top growth. MDM begins generally as greenish-yellow mottling of new leaves accompanied also by suppression of top growth. Eventually plants affected by either disease become stunted, with shortening of internodes and a characteristic red leaf color. |
