16th Annual Mississippi Greenhouse
Tomato Short Course

If you are a grower of greenhouse tomatoes, or if you have interest in growing this crop, mark your calendar now for the 16th annual Greenhouse Tomato Short Course. Participating in this program will be the best way to learn al about producing greenhouse tomatoes.

The 2006 Greenhouse Tomato Short Course will be held at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum, at 1150 Lakeland Drive, Jackson MS, on February 28 and March 1 (Tuesday and Wednesday), in the Sparkman Auditorium, from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm. I am certain that you will find this year’s speakers to be experts in their respective fields. Please look over the agenda.

The first day will cover all of the basics of greenhouse tomato production – introductory information about how to grow greenhouse tomatoes, managing the greenhouse environment, common grower problems, getting familiar with the supplies you need in the greenhouse business, some great marketing tips, etc.. The second day, you will learn about insect and disease identification and management, more ideas on marketing your crop, new greenhouse technologies, and more advanced topics.

Exhibitors will be available to show you their products and discuss how to use them. All aspects of production will be thoroughly covered. Plan on attending this Short Course to learn all you need to know about this crop. With the rapid growth of the greenhouse tomato industry in Mississippi over the past few years, Mississippi is one of the leading states in the U.S. Last year, the Short Course attracted over 160 participants from more than 26 states and several countries.

The Greenhouse Tomato Short Course continues to be the best deal around! Advance registration is $100 (use registration form in mailed packet or online), or, if you prefer, you can pay $125 at the door (per person for the entire Short Course). I would like to encourage advance registration so that the number of meals can be estimated accurately. Advance registration must be received by February 20. The registration fee includes coffee, refreshments, catered lunch and supper, all Extension publications, and some very special promotional items. All those who pre-register will also receive the latest edition of the Greenhouse Tomato Short Course cap.
