WHO’S BUYING ORGANIC PRODUCE

About 24% of consumers buy organic produce at least sometimes, 14% prefer organic and 5% buy nothing but organic (unless it’s not available).
About 20% of consumers eat more organic now than they did five years ago, and around half are willing to pay more for it.

TO EAT

• 43 % of those polled say they buy organic produce often.
• 24% say they buy it sometimes.
• For 20% price is not a factor
• 49% would pay a little more for organic.
• 49 % of men buy organic produce at least sometimes. Just 41% of women do so.

... OR NOT TO EAT
• For 67 % of nonbuyers, price is a barrier.
• 14% prefer it but are concerned about price and quality.
• 28% haven’t tried it.

CONSUMPTION SHIFTS
• 20% eat more organic produce tha they did five years ago.
• 76% eat about the same amount.
• 4% eat less.
