Sclerotinia Stem RotSclerotinia sclerotiorum
Symptoms:
White cotton-like growth is evident on the stems of affected plants, eventually causing the collapse of most of the stem tissue other than the xylem fibers leaving a stringy residue. Infected fruit are covered by the white fungal growth, become "mushy" and disintegrate.Control:
Careful attention to watering duration and frequency is important, especially during late season. A fungicide spray program may be needed in heavily infected fields.
