Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic

Cucumber Green Mottle Mosaic Virus (CGMMV)

Symptoms:
This virus disease is found in Europe, India and Japan, affecting mainly greenhouse crop production, but watermelon, cantaloupe and cucumber are all susceptible. Symptoms progress from a barely observable vein clearing and distortion of young leaves to an eventual bleaching of the leaf lamina. While fruit develop few symptoms, plant stunting and loss of productivity is severe.

Control:
The virus is transmitted through grafting onto affected rootstocks, and failure to remove debris of a previously affected crop. The virus can also be seed borne.
