PROTECTING TENDER POTTED PLANTS

PROTECTING TENDER POTTED PLANTS

Protecting tender plants from cold weather can present a problem when the pot is too heavy to move inside for the winter. There is a solution that will save your back.

Wrap the exterior of the pot in bubble wrap and secure. I use duck tape but stretchy tie-downs would work as well. Do whatever pruning or cutting back is necessary. Stay on a regular watering schedule and cover the exposed part of the plant with an old sheet during truly cold nights.

I have successfully over wintered my tropical hibiscus using this method.
