Mark Carpenter Memorial Scholarship

The Texas Citrus Fiesta Youth Show will award a $500 scholarship to the top applicant of the participants of the Texas Citrus Youth Show. The student receiving the Mark Carpenter Memorial Scholarship must be a full-time student as determined by the institution which the student is attending. The scholarship must begin within a year of graduation. If a student cannot begin school immediately following graduation, the scholarship committee must render a decision.

Scholarship Eligibility

Any graduating high school senior who is a U.S. citizen, pursuing education that is agriculturally related at an institution of higher learning, and participates in the Texas Citrus Fiesta Youth Show for at least three years is eligible to apply.

Scholarship Requirements

• Completion and submission of Mark Carpenter Memorial Scholarship application.
  

• A 250- to 500-word essay explaining why you will be pursuing higher education .
  

• Essays, either typed or printed, must be turned in at the fruit exhibits area during the time for submission of fruit exhibits.
  

• The completed application must be submitted with the essay.
  
• The scholarship recipient will be notified in February.
  

Scholarship Guidelines

• Scholarship money may be used to pay for books, tuition, fees and/or university-approved housing.
  

• Scholarship recipients may obtain their scholarship money by presenting a copy of their fee slip of enrollment in a college, junior college, or university and proof that the recipient is majoring in agriculture, to the Texas Citrus Fiesta Youth Show Committee. Checks will be mailed to the scholarship office of the college/university the recipient will be attending.
