Effective gardening can be rewarding because of the sense of growing beautiful and productive plants. Effective gardening requires a skilled and well informed gardener who has detailed knowledge of the plants, tools, cultural requirements, and environmental conditions and how they influence plant growth and development.

The CEMAP program is a cooperative effort between the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, nursery producers, garden centers, and test gardeners to evaluate new plants and new products for the Texas landscape.
