Benz School
For more than 60 years, persons from all walks of life have attended the Benz School of Floral Design because of their interest in the retail florist industry. The school was founded by M. "Buddy" Benz, who developed the theories upon which most education in floral design is based today. When started in 1945, the Benz School was one of the first short courses in the industry. During spring and summer months, the Benz School offers multiple sessions, each with an enrollment of 20 students to guarantee you personal instruction. All materials, including flowers, supplies, accessories, and tools, are provided. You and fellow classmates meet in floral design labs at the Horticulture/Forest Science Building, where the most modern equipment is available in a spacious working environment. The text for the course is Flowers: Creative Design by James L. "Jim" Johnson and William L. "Bill" McKinley. This beautifully revised book, originally authored by M. "Buddy" Benz and considered by many to be the guide to modern floral design, is used by colleges, universities, high schools, and vocational programs. Both beginners and advanced students appreciate the mix of hands-on experience with thorough study of the text-book. As a graduate who completes the 70-hour course, you will receive a handsome Certificate of Completion bearing the names of the Benz School and Texas A&M University. Former students have often said that the Benz School diploma is their best recommendation. Advanced courses are available for persons who have completed the program described in this booklet or its equivalent. Write or call the Benz School for further information. If requested before classes begin, Texas A&M University will furnish a transcript of the Continuing Education Units (CEUs) you earn at the Benz School. The CEU is recognized by employers, associations, and organizations across the nation. The Benz School also is approved by the National Vocation Rehabilitation Act, which makes financial benefits available to students who qualify. |
