Summary of Activities:

  1. ASHS set the COMP Working Group up with a ListServer (CAHLIST@ASHS.org)
  2. The COMP Working Group set up its own HomePage on the internet (address: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/ashscompwg/)
  3. Presented a colloquium entitled "Issues and Applications of Computer Technology to Horticulture" at the 1996 ASHS meeting in Lexington, KY
  4. Co-sponsored colloquium on "Impact of Biotechnology on the Environment
  5. Co-sponsored workshop "Publishing in Plant Science Journals: A Success Story in Graduate Education at Iowa State University"
  6. A workshop entitled "Integrating Resources on the Web" has been proposed for the 1997 meeting in Salt Lake City
  7. A Colloquium is being proposed for the 1998 meeting
  8. COMP will co-sponsor a colloquium at the 1997 meeting entitled "Implementing HortBase: Horticulture Global Information System for Decision Support".
  9. Three manuscripts resulting from the 1996 colloquium sponsored by COMP were submitted to Mike Neff (ASHS Publications) for publications.
  10. Minutes of the 1996 business meeting were circulated to all COMP members via e-mail, our home page and the ASHS Newsletter.
