Pruning Power Line Rights-of-Way
Well what do you see up in that tree? Is it a butcher or is it a lifesaver? I think it's a lifesaver.
City Public Service up there taking those limbs off over those highwires. It doesn't make the tree look very nice, but you know what if we get an ice storm, and we barely missed some this year, and it brings those limbs down on those electrical lines bad things can happen not only to the tree limbs but also you'll be out of power.
Of course you will be cussing the CPS, if not because they're butchering the trees, then you'd be cussing them because they didn't come before if we get our electricity knocked out. That's a free service. If you get up there and try to do it we'd be visiting you in the hospital.
So when these people come around drop to your knees and thank the Lord they're doing you a city public service because otherwise you would have a serious situation. Don't cuss them take them lemonade and cookies.
This is Jerry Parsons, Vegetable Specialist for the Texas Agricultural Extension Service, the Weekend Gardener.
