Grapefruit as a Christmas Gift
What produce better than any place else in the world?
Well a lot of things as a matter of fact, but especially grapefruit. The Rio Grande Valley produces wonderful citrus and among the best of their citrus is the grapefruit. This is one that's made Texas famous without a doubt, called Ruby Red. Now they've had to change the name of Ruby Red to Ruby Sweet because of the new superstar on the block. It's got a nice, redder color and obviously it's called Rio Star. It's the star of the valley, and here it is. Notice how much redder it is. It's got the sweetness of the Ruby Red Sweet, but yet it has a beautiful red color.
Now, a lot of people have eaten grapefruit early on in the season and wondered if maybe we've missed out on the best. No, the best is yet to come because as the season gets later the grapefruit gets sweeter. As you can see from this picture, they're still running a lot of grapefruit in the valley. You've still got a chance to buy a lot of good grapefruit. There are also people packing it and they will send it to you in the mail. We have two telephone numbers if you are interested in ordering some of this through the mail. But just remember the Ruby Red has been updated, it's now called Ruby Sweet, and this beautiful new one called Rio Star.
